Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) has dramatically changed patient care in dentistry. Previously, we had to rely on two-dimensional films for diagnosis, but with CBCT technology, we can produce 3-dimensional computer generated images. Compared to a “medical” CT scanner, our CBCT produces a better image quality with a lower radiation dose. This is due to the fact that our CBCT is digital, emits a low-energy source, and has very short exposure time (about 8 seconds).
The ability to visualize anatomical structures prior to treatment, has improved almost every aspect of the field of dentistry. Uses of CBCT scans can be found in Orthodontics, Oral Surgery, Trauma, Sleep Apnea, and TMJ Disorders. The most significant impact has been in the field of Dental Implant dentistry. We can now fully evaluate potential Dental Implant sites for adequate bone volume to properly plan the surgery.

Use of additional software (Anatomage) allows us to perform the Dental Implant surgery in a virtual environment. This minimizes surgical and post-operative complications and maximizes patient satisfaction.
At Oral Dynamics, we have the Gendex GXCB-500 Cone Beam Imaging System powered by iCat, the leader in Cone Beam Technology. We have paired this with Invivo software from Anatomage. With Invivo, we can fully plan your surgery and prepare surgical guides (if necessary) to allow precise and accurate placement of your Dental Implants. This eliminates any “guess-work” in Dental Implant placement at Oral Dynamics.
